CASE
DUVEL MOORTGAT
CHALLENGE
The project is taking place in the brewery’s logistics center. The beer must be aged in a refrigerated logistics area. In this area, making optimal use of the available space is crucial. Previously, Duvel could stack a maximum of 3 pallets of product on top of each other. IMA was able to increase capacity by 25% by making it possible to stack 4 pallets vertically.
SOLUTION
To this end, IMA has designed a system in which two pallets of beer crates are loaded using a forklift; the machine then automatically places MDF divider panels on the top layer of the loaded pallet.
This is done without operator intervention and with a high degree of accuracy (positioning). After aging, the stacked pallets are retrieved from the logistics area, and the interlayers are removed fully automatically and placed in a buffer warehouse to be reused later.
SAVINGS
IMA has developed a solution for this that incorporates the following techniques:
Positioning, vacuum technology, long-reach XZ manipulator, servo technology, special attention to collision protection and ergonomics for the forklift operator.
